Job Description

Overview

  • Provide expert genetic counseling to individuals and families, addressing inherited conditions with empathy and professionalism.
  • Assess genetic risks and recommend testing to support informed healthcare decisions and family planning strategies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care and counseling services.
  • Educate patients on genetic findings and their implications for health and family planning.
  • Provide emotional support to patients navigating genetic testing and its outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient histories and genetic data to ensure quality care.
  • Engage in research activities to advance genetic counseling practices and improve patient outcomes.
  • Stay updated on advancements in genetic counseling methodologies to provide cutting-edge services.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Analyze genetic test results and family histories to identify risks and inform care plans.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend genetic testing tailored to patient needs.
  • Provide counseling on managing inherited genetic disorders and their implications.
  • Support patients in understanding genetic risks and making informed decisions.
  • Coordinate laboratory services and treatment plans for genetic testing procedures.
  • Offer emotional support to patients and families dealing with genetic risks.
  • Educate patients about genetic testing processes and the significance of results.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure integrated and effective patient care.
  • Participate in research initiatives to advance genetic counseling practices.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, with a Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling preferred.
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Genetic Counseling is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in genetic counseling.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage patient records and counseling sessions effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex genetic information clearly and empathetically.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Proficiency in time management and critical thinking to prioritize tasks and patient needs.
  • Compassionate approach to patient care, ensuring a supportive environment.
  • Knowledge of PGT-M/PGT-A implications and related genetic counseling practices is preferred.
