Job Description

Overview

  • Serve as a vital member of the care team, assisting providers with clinical services and administrative tasks to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Work under the supervision of the Practice Administrator and collaborate with the Nurse Manager to support population health initiatives.
  • Engage patients with excellent customer service, addressing their needs and ensuring a positive experience during their visit.
  • Perform patient registration, scheduling, and insurance verification using electronic systems to maintain data integrity.
  • Assist in direct patient care, including vital signs, phlebotomy, and diagnostic testing under supervision.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-ups with specialists, ensuring seamless communication and documentation.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality while adhering to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with electronic medical records and practice management systems within the training period.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Greet patients warmly and manage patient flow effectively in the waiting room.
  • Schedule appointments accurately and verify insurance coverage using electronic systems.
  • Perform patient check-in and check-out processes, ensuring all required documentation is completed.
  • Assist in resolving patient service or clinical issues promptly and professionally.
  • Conduct direct patient care tasks, including physical examination preparation, vital signs, and diagnostic testing.
  • Coordinate internal and external referrals, providing necessary information and follow-up communication.
  • Participate in outreach initiatives to support population health and reduce unnecessary emergency visits.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient care information in electronic medical records.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or eligibility for national certification exam within 18 months of hire.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care setting; 3 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in navigating electronic medical records and practice management systems.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to address patient concerns effectively.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and ability to perform clinical tasks accurately.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours between 8 AM and 6 PM daily.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to organizational policies.
