Job Description

Overview

  • The Legal Billing Analyst ensures accurate, timely, and compliant preparation of client invoices within a professional services environment.
  • Collaborates with attorneys, clients, and the billing team to manage complex billing requirements and maintain confidentiality.
  • Analyzes billing data, including time entries, disbursements, and alternative fee arrangements, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Supports collections efforts by addressing outstanding invoices and coordinating with internal stakeholders.
  • Generates and reviews financial reports to aid decision-making and improve billing processes.
  • Participates in special projects and process improvement initiatives to enhance billing operations.
  • Provides exceptional service by promptly responding to billing inquiries and fostering strong relationships with attorneys and clients.
  • Ensures strict adherence to client billing requirements and deadlines through e-billing platforms and client portals.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare, review, and process complex client invoices using Elite 3E software.
  • Identify and resolve billing discrepancies, variances, and compliance issues efficiently.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to address outstanding billing matters and ensure timely invoicing.
  • Generate and analyze billing reports, including aging and revenue summaries.
  • Process invoices through electronic billing platforms, adhering to client-specific guidelines.
  • Support collections efforts by following up on outstanding invoices and coordinating with stakeholders.
  • Assist with conflict searches and new matter intake processes, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance billing operations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, with two to five years of legal billing experience.
  • Proficiency in legal e-billing systems and compliance with complex billing guidelines.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in handling financial information.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with attorneys, clients, and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Experience in identifying inefficiencies and contributing to process improvements.
  • Knowledge of Elite 3E software and electronic invoicing platforms.
