Overview
- Provide comprehensive medical care to patients of all ages, including pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations, in a Federally Qualified Health Center setting.
- Perform detailed medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic assessments to ensure accurate patient care and treatment planning.
- Collaborate with mid-level practitioners and specialists to deliver coordinated healthcare services and referrals as needed.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and develop medical protocols for implementation by healthcare staff.
- Provide health education and counseling on chronic disease management, preventive medicine, and lifestyle modifications.
- Supervise Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants under collaborative agreements to ensure optimal patient care delivery.
- Engage in administrative duties, including documentation compliance and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in case conferences, peer reviews, and on-call rotations to support clinic operations and patient care.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including gynecological examinations and well-care assessments, to diagnose and address healthcare needs.
- Prescribe medications and educate patients on usage, benefits, and potential side effects.
- Complete medical documentation and forms related to patient care, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Provide immunizations and assist with phlebotomy procedures to maintain smooth clinic operations.
- Advocate for patient health and connect individuals with appropriate resources and services.
- Collaborate with outreach staff and benefits counselors to optimize patient scheduling and clinic flow.
- Participate in the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols.
- Maintain responsibility for directing the course of medical treatment and supervising mid-level practitioners.
Job Requirements
- Doctoral degree in Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution and a valid New York State Medical license.
- Board Certification by the New York State Medical Board and a minimum of two years of clinical experience.
- Proficiency in Spanish or other languages is preferred to enhance patient communication.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and electronic medical record systems.
- Experience in supervising mid-level practitioners and collaborating with specialists for patient referrals.
- Ability to provide health education and counseling on chronic diseases, preventive medicine, and lifestyle modifications.
- Commitment to quality improvement initiatives and protocol development within a healthcare setting.
- Flexibility to participate in on-call rotations and case management activities.
