Overview
- Lead the Labor and Delivery unit, ensuring exceptional patient care and operational efficiency in a dynamic healthcare environment.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement effective policies, procedures, and strategic plans for the department.
- Supervise and mentor a dedicated team of RNs, CNAs, and Unit Secretaries to foster professional growth and excellence.
- Oversee a state-of-the-art unit with multiple beds and operating rooms, ensuring seamless operations and patient satisfaction.
- Manage services for a high-volume labor and delivery unit, maintaining high standards of care and safety.
- Work closely with the Director of Women’s Services to align departmental goals with organizational objectives.
- Provide leadership in a fast-paced environment, driving initiatives to improve patient outcomes and staff performance.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Plan, organize, and oversee unit functions to ensure optimal operations and patient care delivery.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to maintain compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.
- Monitor staff performance, providing constructive feedback and support to enhance team effectiveness.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and streamline processes.
- Manage resources efficiently, including staffing, equipment, and supplies, to meet departmental needs.
- Lead initiatives aimed at improving patient safety, satisfaction, and overall healthcare quality.
- Provide mentorship and training to staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Active RN license in practicing state or Compact/Multi-State RN License required.
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) are mandatory.
- Minimum of 3 years of RN experience in Labor and Delivery; leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a high-performing team in a healthcare setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of labor and delivery practices, procedures, and patient care standards.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, on-site healthcare environment while maintaining focus on quality and safety.
