Job Description

Overview

  • Manage financial reporting and accounting for development entities, ensuring compliance with standards and accuracy in financial documentation.
  • Perform detailed analyses of general ledger accounts and reconcile intercompany balances and transactions effectively.
  • Assist in coding invoices, preparing journal entries, and monitoring costs against approved budgets for development projects.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, addressing discrepancies promptly to maintain financial integrity.
  • Collaborate with auditors during annual and interim audits, providing necessary schedules and documentation.
  • Contribute to the preparation of comprehensive financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  • Engage with joint venture partners to ensure accurate information sharing and adherence to accounting principles.
  • Participate in transaction closing processes, including settlement statement reviews and gain on sale calculations.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Ensure accurate coding of invoices and expenditures within general ledger accounts using industry-standard software.
  • Prepare and input monthly journal entries, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and practices.
  • Process funding and draw requests for projects involving construction loans, maintaining precise records.
  • Monitor project costs against approved budgets, providing detailed financial insights and reports.
  • Assist in preparing and distributing monthly financial reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support audits by preparing schedules and providing required documentation to auditors.
  • Reconcile costs in the Development Project Cost System with general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy.
  • Collaborate with development teams and accounting personnel across various regions to ensure cohesive financial management.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required, demonstrating foundational knowledge in financial practices.
  • 0-2 years of accounting experience preferred; public accounting experience is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with Yardi accounting software is a plus.
  • Understanding of US GAAP and ability to apply financial data effectively in decision-making processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting financial information clearly.
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary to meet critical deadlines.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or progress towards certification is preferred.
  • Experience with construction cost audits and reconciliation processes is advantageous.
