Job Description

Overview

  • Lead the oncology service line, ensuring exceptional patient care and operational excellence within a dynamic healthcare setting.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for oncology services, including Hematology, Oncology, Infusion, and Cancer Support Services.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize provider productivity and enhance patient experience and outcomes.
  • Oversee financial performance, operational efficiency, and growth strategies for oncology services.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Promote quality improvement initiatives and patient safety within the oncology service line.
  • Lead clinical operations of the Infusion Center, implementing best practices and innovative protocols.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental collaboration to enhance operational flow and efficiency.
  • Prepare and present reports and assessments for Tumor Board meetings and other forums.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and monitor budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and financial targets.
  • Hire, train, and develop staff to maintain high competency levels and service quality.
  • Create and implement policies, procedures, and performance improvement initiatives for oncology services.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Safety, and Patient Experience teams to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with standards from TJC, AHCA, CMS, NFPA, OSHA, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinate with cancer support groups to enhance community engagement and support initiatives.
  • Oversee electronic health record (EHR) systems for oncology service lines.
  • Respond to department needs by performing other duties as necessary to ensure operational success.
  • Maintain a collaborative work environment across Infusion and Cancer Care service lines.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of RN experience; 7 years preferred.
  • 4+ years of oncology experience and 3+ years in leadership roles required.
  • Current RN license and Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification required.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, ASCO, and ONS standards essential.
  • Expertise in oncology care continuum, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Proficiency in financial management and clinical department operations.
  • Ability to lead Tumor Board conferences and community cancer support initiatives.
  • CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association required.
