Job Description

Overview

  • Provide physical therapy services to children in an educational setting, ensuring optimal therapeutic outcomes and adherence to professional standards.
  • Collaborate with educators, caregivers, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized therapy plans.
  • Conduct evaluations and assessments to determine the needs and progress of children receiving therapy.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of therapy sessions and progress reports as required.
  • Supervise and mentor Physical Therapy Assistants and students to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Participate in professional development activities to maintain licensure and enhance skills.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards and organizational policies in all therapy practices.
  • Manage therapy equipment and treatment areas to maintain a safe and effective environment.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and implement individualized physical therapy plans for children based on evaluations.
  • Conduct screenings and assessments to gather data for therapy planning and intervention.
  • Provide direct therapy services, ensuring adherence to established standards and protocols.
  • Document therapy sessions, progress, and outcomes in compliance with organizational and payer requirements.
  • Supervise and support Physical Therapy Assistants and other staff involved in therapy services.
  • Maintain therapy equipment and ensure the treatment area is safe and functional.
  • Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance skills and maintain licensure.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize therapy outcomes and support children’s development.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Valid New York State Physical Therapy License, meeting all regulatory requirements.
  • Experience or training in pediatric physical therapy is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of physical therapy principles, ethics, and standards of practice.
  • Ability to conduct evaluations and develop effective therapy plans.
  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills to maintain compliance.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with interdisciplinary teams.
