Job Description
Overview
- Provide physical therapy services to children in an educational setting, ensuring optimal therapeutic outcomes and adherence to professional standards.
- Collaborate with educators, caregivers, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized therapy plans.
- Conduct evaluations and assessments to determine the needs and progress of children receiving therapy.
- Maintain accurate documentation of therapy sessions and progress reports as required.
- Supervise and mentor Physical Therapy Assistants and students to ensure quality service delivery.
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain licensure and enhance skills.
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards and organizational policies in all therapy practices.
- Manage therapy equipment and treatment areas to maintain a safe and effective environment.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop and implement individualized physical therapy plans for children based on evaluations.
- Conduct screenings and assessments to gather data for therapy planning and intervention.
- Provide direct therapy services, ensuring adherence to established standards and protocols.
- Document therapy sessions, progress, and outcomes in compliance with organizational and payer requirements.
- Supervise and support Physical Therapy Assistants and other staff involved in therapy services.
- Maintain therapy equipment and ensure the treatment area is safe and functional.
- Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance skills and maintain licensure.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize therapy outcomes and support children’s development.
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Valid New York State Physical Therapy License, meeting all regulatory requirements.
- Experience or training in pediatric physical therapy is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physical therapy principles, ethics, and standards of practice.
- Ability to conduct evaluations and develop effective therapy plans.
- Excellent documentation and organizational skills to maintain compliance.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with interdisciplinary teams.
