Job Description

Overview

  • Assist in managing approximately 64,000 railcars in North America's multi-level fleet.
  • Coordinate strategies and procedures for effective fleet utilization and customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare statistical reports on fleet performance and utilization metrics.
  • Monitor empty car pipelines and prepare daily shipper queue reports.
  • Communicate with shippers to assess loading operations and provide relevant updates.
  • Collaborate with shop personnel to monitor fleet program work and update databases.
  • Support special projects and develop computer programs and spreadsheets for reporting.
  • Publish documentation and assist in developing new reports using Business Intelligence tools.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare weekly distribution reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assess fleet utilization metrics and advise management on deficits or surpluses.
  • Identify and address railcar management issues with carriers and peers.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret data for presentations to stakeholders.
  • Manage empty railcar queues and monitor pipelines to ensure sufficient supply.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of equipment flow and program candidacy requirements.
  • Assist in updates to car attributes, statuses, and maintenance records.
  • Support foreign entities in capturing equipment for program work.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Communications, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related fields.
  • One to two years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI, SQL Server, Tableau, or SAS.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting to customers and employees.
  • Ability to interpret instructions in various formats and solve practical problems.
  • Familiarity with fleet management and railcar operations preferred.
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid environment and travel as required.
