Job Description

Overview

  • Evaluate and underwrite Merchant Cash Advance (MCA) transactions for small and medium-sized businesses.
  • Analyze financial data, cash flows, and business performance to assess creditworthiness.
  • Collaborate with internal credit teams and origination partners to ensure alignment with risk parameters.
  • Apply financial modeling and data analytics to evaluate transaction risks and industry exposure.
  • Recommend funding amounts and deal terms based on risk profiles and business needs.
  • Monitor post-funding performance and identify early warning indicators of credit deterioration.
  • Stay updated on market trends and developments within the MCA and alternative lending space.
  • Contribute to maintaining compliance standards and clear documentation of underwriting decisions.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Analyze financial health and creditworthiness of MCA applicants, including cash flow and revenue trends.
  • Perform due diligence by reviewing financial documentation such as bank statements and tax returns.
  • Utilize financial modeling to assess transaction risks and business stability.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to structure transactions within established risk guidelines.
  • Maintain documentation supporting underwriting decisions and compliance standards.
  • Monitor funded transactions and identify indicators of credit deterioration.
  • Stay informed on market trends and developments in alternative lending products.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field.
  • 1–4 years of underwriting or credit analysis experience, preferably within MCA or alternative finance.
  • Strong skills in financial statement and cash flow analysis.
  • Proven ability to assess credit risk for small and mid-sized businesses.
  • Familiarity with non-traditional lending structures and MCA products.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with underwriting platforms.
  • Professional certifications (CFA, CPA) are a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
