Overview
- Lead the strategic direction and operational management of surgical services, ensuring clinical excellence and patient-centered care.
- Oversee Ambulatory Surgery, PACU, Robotic Surgery, and Cardiovascular Surgery departments.
- Collaborate with medical staff and hospital leadership to enhance surgical outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and optimize resource allocation for surgical operations.
- Promote continuous improvement and teamwork within surgical personnel and workflows.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to support growth and enhance service quality.
- Manage capital planning for surgical equipment and technology investments.
- Provide regular updates and recommendations to executive leadership regarding surgical services.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide leadership for inpatient and outpatient operating rooms, pre-op and post-op care, and sterile processing.
- Develop and monitor quality improvement initiatives and clinical pathways in collaboration with medical staff.
- Oversee staffing, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure efficient operations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards.
- Monitor key performance indicators, patient outcomes, and staff performance to identify improvement areas.
- Lead staff recruitment, retention, training, and professional development initiatives.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within surgical services.
- Serve as a liaison between surgical services and executive leadership, providing updates and recommendations.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; advanced certifications preferred.
- Current California RN license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory/management experience in surgical nursing.
- Preferred 5 years of experience in surgical nursing and leadership roles.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements for surgical services.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience in capital planning and resource management for surgical equipment and technology.
- Ability to foster collaboration and teamwork among surgical staff and hospital leadership.
