Overview

  • Lead emergency department operations, ensuring exceptional patient care and operational efficiency in a high-acuity environment.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and streamline emergency services.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee daily operations, including staffing, patient flow, and resource allocation in the emergency department.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and supervision to nursing staff, fostering clinical excellence and professional growth.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, hospital policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Act as a liaison between staff, patients, families, and hospital leadership to address concerns and improve outcomes.
  • Identify and resolve operational or clinical challenges promptly to maintain efficiency and quality of care.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and contribute to strategic planning efforts.
  • Collaborate with specialty areas to ensure seamless patient transitions and continuity of care.
  • Promote effective communication within the department and with external stakeholders.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Current RN license or eligibility to practice in the District of Columbia.
  • Minimum of 4 years of emergency department nursing experience; 5 years preferred.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience within emergency care settings.
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required; TNCC and CEN preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
  • Experience in performance improvement and strategic planning initiatives.
