Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Oversee daily operations, including staffing, patient flow, and resource allocation in the emergency department.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and supervision to nursing staff, fostering clinical excellence and professional growth.
- Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, hospital policies, and regulatory standards.
- Act as a liaison between staff, patients, families, and hospital leadership to address concerns and improve outcomes.
- Identify and resolve operational or clinical challenges promptly to maintain efficiency and quality of care.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and contribute to strategic planning efforts.
- Collaborate with specialty areas to ensure seamless patient transitions and continuity of care.
- Promote effective communication within the department and with external stakeholders.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Current RN license or eligibility to practice in the District of Columbia.
- Minimum of 4 years of emergency department nursing experience; 5 years preferred.
- At least 2 years of leadership experience within emergency care settings.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required; TNCC and CEN preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
- Experience in performance improvement and strategic planning initiatives.
