Overview
- Provide essential support to dental students in a clinical environment, ensuring quality patient care and adherence to protocols.
- Assist with four-handed dentistry, operatory preparation, and sterilization processes to maintain a clean and efficient workspace.
- Coordinate inventory management to prevent shortages and ensure adequate supplies for daily operations.
- Deliver empathetic patient care, fostering positive experiences throughout treatment phases.
- Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students to promote teamwork and clinical excellence.
- Support evening and Saturday clinic hours as required, contributing to flexible patient service availability.
- Maintain compliance with Massachusetts Dental Assistant licensing and certification requirements.
- Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and provide proof of required immunizations and health screenings.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Assist students in performing dental procedures by practicing four-handed dentistry and ensuring operatory readiness.
- Clean and disinfect operatories between patients, preparing for subsequent treatments efficiently.
- Organize and manage inventory, restocking supplies as needed to maintain operational continuity.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding treatment plans, fostering understanding and comfort.
- Provide guidance to students on patient management and communication techniques.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address clinical challenges proactively.
- Support multiple operatories in a fast-paced environment, ensuring smooth workflow and patient care.
- Utilize MS Office tools for documentation and administrative tasks effectively.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; additional certifications in dental assisting preferred.
- Massachusetts Dental Assistant License and Radiology certification mandatory.
- Certified Dental Assistant, Expanded Functions (EFDA), or Formally Trained (FTDA) credentials preferred.
- CPR certification and compliance with required immunizations and health screenings.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in a dental practice setting or dental care environment essential.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask effectively.
- Bilingual abilities preferred but not required.
