Overview
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for individuals with developmental disabilities in a supportive environment.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal health outcomes for clients.
- Supervise and train direct support staff in medical procedures and health protocols.
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans tailored to client needs.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in compliance with regulations.
- Conduct regular health assessments and monitor client conditions effectively.
- Ensure compliance with OPWDD regulations and organizational policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance client care.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide direct nursing care as prescribed, ensuring adherence to standards and regulations.
- Conduct physical examinations and develop nursing care plans for clients.
- Coordinate acute and ongoing health services based on client needs.
- Train staff on health measures, medication administration, and client-specific care.
- Evaluate clinical performance of staff and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain electronic health records and coordinate care with external providers.
- Actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss client care.
- Ensure compliance with training documentation and regulatory requirements.
Job Requirements
- Active, unrestricted New York State Registered Nurse license.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with 3 years of clinical experience preferred.
- Experience with intellectually disabled populations and managerial roles preferred.
- Proficiency in electronic health record management and care coordination.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Knowledge of OPWDD regulations and nursing standards.
