Job Description

Overview

  • Support the submission and peer review processes for a scientific journal, ensuring adherence to guidelines and policies.
  • Collaborate with authors, reviewers, and editors to facilitate manuscript processing and review.
  • Act as the primary contact for authors, providing guidance and resolving submission ambiguities.
  • Monitor journal inboxes, managing inquiries and correspondence efficiently.
  • Assist Associate Editors in inviting reviewers and navigating submission systems.
  • Ensure manuscripts meet necessary criteria before proceeding to review stages.
  • Support post-acceptance programs and maintain editorial board membership records.
  • Generate reports and analyze editorial board demographics for review and planning.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Review manuscripts for completeness, resolving discrepancies with authors as needed.
  • Act as liaison between authors, Associate Editors, and the editorial office.
  • Monitor and manage the journal inbox, addressing inquiries promptly.
  • Assist Associate Editors in reviewer invitations and manuscript navigation.
  • Ensure revised manuscripts meet required standards before proceeding.
  • Verify adherence to policies for accepted papers and facilitate production readiness.
  • Create and analyze reports on editorial board rotations and demographics.
  • Provide operational support and guidance on journal policies to stakeholders.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy, including Photoshop, and strong decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for constructive collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with experience in quality control preferred.
  • Experience in a team environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Customer service experience supporting executives or professionals.
  • Editorial experience, preferably with online peer-review systems, is preferred.
