Job Description

Overview

  • Serve as a vital member of the care team, assisting providers with clinical services and administrative tasks to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Support population health initiatives and deliver best-in-class care under the supervision of the Practice Administrator and Nurse Manager.
  • Engage with patients and guests, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience throughout their visit.
  • Perform patient registration, insurance verification, and appointment scheduling using electronic systems.
  • Assist with direct patient care, including vital signs, phlebotomy, and diagnostic testing under supervision.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-ups with specialists, ensuring seamless communication and patient support.
  • Contribute to outreach initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes and reducing emergency visits.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Greet patients warmly, address inquiries, and manage patient flow in the waiting area.
  • Perform accurate patient registration, insurance verification, and appointment scheduling using electronic systems.
  • Assist care teams with direct patient care tasks, including vital signs, phlebotomy, and diagnostic testing.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments with specialists, ensuring patient needs are met.
  • Handle patient communications, including reminder calls, feedback collection, and issue resolution.
  • Support population health campaigns and initiatives to improve patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records and ensure data integrity.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or eligibility for national certification exam.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Proficiency in navigating electronic medical records and computer systems.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and ability to perform patient care tasks.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying assignments and locations based on organizational needs.
