Overview
- Serve as a vital member of the care team, assisting providers with clinical services and administrative tasks to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Work under the supervision of the Practice Administrator and collaborate with the Nurse Manager to support population health initiatives.
- Engage patients and guests with excellent customer service, addressing their needs and ensuring a positive experience.
- Perform patient registration, insurance verification, and appointment scheduling with accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist in direct patient care activities, including vital signs, phlebotomy, and diagnostic testing under supervision.
- Document patient care information in electronic medical records and maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Support care teams in outreach initiatives to improve patient outcomes and reduce unnecessary hospital visits.
- Demonstrate proficiency with electronic systems and adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Greet patients and guests warmly, ensuring effective communication and timely assistance.
- Monitor patient flow and resolve issues related to registration and check-in processes.
- Schedule appointments, verify insurance coverage, and maintain accurate patient records.
- Perform direct patient care tasks such as vital signs, phlebotomy, and diagnostic testing.
- Coordinate referrals to specialists and ensure patients have necessary documentation.
- Assist in campaigns and initiatives to close gaps in patient care and improve health outcomes.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, dress code, and professional standards.
Job Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or eligibility for national certification exam within 18 months of hire.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care setting.
- Proficiency in navigating electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and ability to recognize patient status data.
- Flexibility to adapt to various tasks and assignments as needed.
