Job Description

Overview

  • The Project Accountant will oversee financial aspects of architectural projects, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and effective budget management.
  • Collaborate with project teams to track costs, revenue, and billing for successful project execution.
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes to optimize financial planning.
  • Maintain internal controls and compliance with GAAP and other regulations.
  • Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Perform financial analysis and prepare internal financial statements for management review.
  • Contribute to sustainability-focused projects, supporting the firm's mission of social and environmental responsibility.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage project accounting tasks, including budgeting, cost tracking, billing, and revenue recognition.
  • Support annual budget preparation and forecasting to align financial goals.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and liaise with external auditors for accurate reporting.
  • Oversee general ledger management, including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Perform financial analysis and create reports for management and financial institutions.
  • Lead and mentor accounting staff, fostering collaboration across departments.
  • Utilize advanced ERP and accounting software for efficient financial operations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and the architectural team.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience in architecture, engineering, or construction industries.
  • Proficiency in project accounting systems such as Ajera, E-Builder, or PMWEB.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical abilities to identify trends and resolve accounting issues.
  • Experience in financial closing processes and reconciliation tasks.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate financial information effectively.
