Overview

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assist surgeons during procedures by providing technical support and surgical instruments.
  • Prepare surgical rooms, ensuring sterile instruments and equipment are ready for use.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and respond to deviations from normal during surgeries.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments following approved nursing protocols.
  • Document patient history, conditions, and responses to treatments accurately.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and growth principles.
  • Educate patients about procedures and treatments to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Participate in departmental activities and serve as a clinical resource for team members.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent degree required.
  • Current RN licensure in Michigan and completion of RN First Assistant program.
  • Minimum of 1 year clinical experience as RNFA; 3 years preferred.
  • Competency in perioperative nursing and surgical assisting for diverse age groups.
  • Proficiency in nursing processes, including assessment, planning, and evaluation.
  • Physical ability to assist with patient positioning and equipment handling.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams.
  • CNOR certification or enrollment in CNOR program preferred.
