Job Description

Overview

  • Lead perioperative services at a healthcare organization, ensuring clinical, operational, and fiscal excellence.
  • Develop and execute strategies aligned with organizational goals for surgical services.
  • Oversee staffing, quality, safety, service, and clinical standards compliance.
  • Support nursing professional practice and evidence-based leadership initiatives.
  • Respond to patient and physician concerns in an administrative leadership capacity.
  • Mentor and coach team members on resource management and change initiatives.
  • Facilitate educational development and professional growth for staff.
  • Encourage evidence-based research and practice within the department.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide leadership to managers and professional staff in surgical services.
  • Develop long-term plans and strategies for clinical areas under supervision.
  • Monitor progress and provide direction to achieve functional objectives.
  • Analyze trends and implement changes to improve short-term results.
  • Establish budgets and ensure financial performance accountability.
  • Facilitate unit and organization-wide meetings and initiatives.
  • Resolve physician/staff issues and foster collaborative relationships.
  • Oversee performance improvement and regulatory readiness preparations.
  • Mentor team members in personnel management and professional development.

Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Texas.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing management experience.
  • At least 2 years of surgical nursing experience.
  • Effective communication skills in English, additional languages desirable.
  • Basic computer knowledge and proficiency.
  • Ability to mentor and coach team members effectively.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practices and shared governance principles.
  • Willingness to work on-site and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
