Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Overview

• Provide psychiatric care and medication management to diverse populations in a clinical setting.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Work across two locations, serving adult families and men’s shelter residents.
• Engage in policy development and incident reviews to enhance program effectiveness.
• Participate in training committees and provide emergency response when necessary.
• Offer clinical supervision and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs).
• Contribute to a supportive and professional environment focused on mental health care.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations and prescribe psychotropic medications.
• Manage medication regimens for clinically complex patients.
• Respond to emergent clinical needs, including crisis intervention and case conferences.
• Collaborate with program leadership on policy and program development initiatives.
• Provide emergency first aid, CPR, and other medical interventions as needed.
• Participate in incident reviews and contribute to training committees.
• Offer clinical supervision and guidance to nursing staff.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.

Job Requirements

• Master of Science in Nursing with Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience, with 5 years preferred.
• Strong emergency response and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with mental health and substance use populations preferred.
• CPR/AED/First Aid/Naloxone certification or willingness to obtain.
