Job Description

Overview

  • Direct and oversee surgical services operations, ensuring clinical excellence and optimal patient outcomes across multiple departments.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership and medical staff to implement strategic initiatives and enhance service quality.
  • Promote compliance with regulatory standards and drive continuous improvement within surgical workflows and personnel.
  • Manage resource allocation, capital planning, and technology investments to optimize surgical operations.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional development within surgical services.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership to support organizational growth and excellence.
  • Ensure patient-centered care and operational efficiency across all surgical departments.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance surgical outcomes and optimize resource utilization.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee inpatient and outpatient operating rooms, pre-op and post-op care, and sterile processing.
  • Develop and monitor quality improvement initiatives and clinical pathways in collaboration with medical staff.
  • Manage staffing, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure efficient operations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards.
  • Monitor key performance indicators, patient outcomes, and staff performance to identify improvement areas.
  • Lead recruitment, retention, training, and professional development initiatives for surgical staff.
  • Foster collaboration and teamwork among surgical personnel and hospital leadership.
  • Serve as a liaison between surgical services and executive leadership, providing updates and strategic recommendations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; advanced certifications preferred.
  • Current California RN license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory/management experience in surgical nursing.
  • Preferred 5 years of experience in surgical nursing and leadership roles.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements for surgical services.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in capital planning and resource management for surgical equipment and technology.
  • Ability to foster collaboration and teamwork among surgical staff and hospital leadership.
