Job Description

Overview

  • Contribute to the efficient management of a large-scale railcar fleet across North America, ensuring optimal utilization and customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare detailed statistical reports and analyze fleet performance metrics to support strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor railcar pipelines, manage daily shipper queues, and provide timely updates to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with shop personnel to oversee fleet program work and maintain accurate database records.
  • Assist in special projects, including developing analytical tools and reporting systems to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Utilize Business Intelligence tools to create and publish documentation and reports for internal and external use.
  • Engage with shippers to assess loading operations and address operational challenges effectively.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize fleet management processes and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare and distribute weekly operational reports to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze fleet utilization metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement and advising management on strategic adjustments.
  • Address railcar management challenges by collaborating with carriers and peers to develop effective solutions.
  • Gather and interpret data for presentations aimed at enhancing stakeholder understanding and decision-making.
  • Monitor empty railcar queues and pipelines, ensuring adequate supply to meet operational demands.
  • Develop expertise in equipment flow dynamics and program candidacy requirements to support operational goals.
  • Maintain and update car attributes, statuses, and maintenance records to ensure data accuracy.
  • Collaborate with international entities to capture equipment for program work and ensure seamless operations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Communications, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related fields.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience, with preference for candidates with two years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI, SQL Server, Tableau, or SAS.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting findings and updates to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to interpret complex instructions and solve practical problems in dynamic environments.
  • Familiarity with fleet management and railcar operations is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid environment and travel as required to fulfill job responsibilities.
