Job Description

Overview

  • The Rates & Pricing Specialist plays a vital role in managing firmwide billing rates and ensuring compliance with client agreements.
  • Collaborates with Finance, Pricing, Marketing, and leadership to optimize revenue realization and billing integrity.
  • Implements and audits rate arrangements based on engagement letters, RFP responses, and Outside Counsel Guidelines.
  • Supports strategic rate management through data-driven insights and reporting.
  • Ensures accurate setup and governance of billing rates in the time and billing system.
  • Provides rate intelligence for budgets, forecasts, and client proposals.
  • Contributes to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and controls.
  • Works in a hybrid environment, balancing on-site and remote responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Establish, maintain, and audit firm, client, and matter rate structures in compliance with agreements and policies.
  • Implement alternative fee arrangements, tiered discounts, caps, and budget parameters at the matter level.
  • Conduct proactive rate audits to ensure compliance with client guidelines and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with eBilling to prepare and submit client rate sheets as per agreed terms.
  • Generate, analyze, and distribute recurring and ad hoc rate and billing reports.
  • Support annual rate review processes, including updating rate groups and compiling rate templates.
  • Document and refine billing and rate protocols to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
  • Provide rate intelligence and data insights for budgets, forecasts, and RFP responses.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a law firm revenue or finance department.
  • Advanced proficiency in Elite 3E or similar systems; familiarity with eBillingHub and Intapp Open preferred.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; SSRS experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated analytical strength with exceptional attention to detail and data integrity.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Professional presence with effective interaction skills across partners, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
