Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and oversee the management of staff, projects, and activities within the mechanical engineering discipline.
  • Develop and mentor staff into highly technical and creative professionals within the engineering field.
  • Engage in marketing and business development efforts to expand the discipline's reach.
  • Provide technical assistance and supervision in proposal preparation and contract execution.
  • Manage financial aspects of the team to achieve revenue and profit goals.
  • Ensure quality control and assurance on all assigned projects.
  • Evaluate design impacts on both short-term capital costs and long-term operational costs.
  • Contribute to constructability reviews to optimize project costs and timelines.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Direct and manage the work efforts of assigned staff within the discipline.
  • Monitor work backlog and allocate tasks within the region and discipline effectively.
  • Assist project managers in preparing for client and agency meetings.
  • Oversee completion of projects regarding scope, schedule, quality, and budget.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to staff for professional growth and development.
  • Develop proposals and track budgets to ensure project alignment with goals.
  • Lead quality control and assurance efforts on all projects.
  • Manage performance evaluations and contribute to discussions on raises and bonuses.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architecture from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in mechanical engineering within architecture, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire prevention design.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit software.
  • Experience in proposal preparation, budget tracking, and team leadership.
  • Knowledge of all phases of mechanical discipline including technology, drafting, design, and planning.
  • Strong understanding of energy controls and building commissioning processes.
  • Ability to evaluate design impacts on operational and capital costs.
