Dental Assistant

Overview

• Support a dynamic dental clinic, assisting students and faculty in delivering exceptional patient care and maintaining clinic operations.
• Perform four-handed dentistry, preparing operatories, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring a clean, safe environment.
• Manage inventory, restocking supplies, and maintaining organization to ensure seamless clinic functionality.
• Provide patient care guidance, fostering effective communication and empathetic interactions with patients.
• Collaborate with team members to enhance clinic efficiency and promote a positive learning environment.
• Support flexible clinic hours, including evenings and weekends, demonstrating dedication to patient care.
• Maintain compliance with health and safety standards, including certifications and immunization requirements.
• Utilize administrative tools for documentation and operational tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Assist students in performing dental procedures, ensuring adherence to clinic protocols and standards.
• Prepare and sanitize operatories between patient visits, maintaining a safe and hygienic environment.
• Coordinate dental instrument sterilization processes, adhering to established guidelines.
• Monitor and organize inventory levels, ensuring availability of necessary supplies.
• Guide students in patient management techniques, promoting effective communication and care practices.
• Collaborate with clinic staff to support operations and enhance patient experiences.
• Adapt to a fast-paced environment, efficiently managing multiple operatories and assisting students simultaneously.
• Participate in continuing education to maintain certifications and stay current with industry practices.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; formal dental assistant training preferred.
• Current Massachusetts Dental Assistant License and CPR certification mandatory.
• Radiology certification required; Expanded Functions or Formal Training certifications preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office tools for documentation and administrative tasks.
• Experience in dental practice settings, showcasing knowledge of dental terminology and procedures.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, with bilingual abilities preferred.
• Compliance with health and safety standards, including immunization and tuberculosis testing requirements.
