Overview
- Provide patient care and support in a dental office setting, ensuring comfort and safety during procedures.
- Assist with monitoring vital signs and administering medications as directed by dental professionals.
- Maintain compliance with infection control protocols and safety standards in a clinical environment.
- Educate patients on post-procedure care and medication instructions for optimal recovery.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure efficient workflow and patient satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic medical charts as needed.
- Respond to medical emergencies and assist with patient stabilization when required.
- Support the clinical team during surgical and complex dental procedures.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Prepare patients for dental procedures, reviewing medical histories and ensuring readiness.
- Monitor patient health and vital signs before, during, and after procedures.
- Administer medications, injections, or IV sedation within the scope of practice.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and OSHA safety standards.
- Provide patient education on care instructions and medication usage post-procedure.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Assist dentists and oral surgeons during procedures, ensuring efficient workflow.
- Respond effectively to medical emergencies, providing critical care as needed.
Job Requirements
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of New York.
- Current CPR/BLS certification is mandatory for this role.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical or dental setting preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control and patient safety protocols is essential.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced and emergency situations.
- Preferred experience in ICU, ER, or post-anesthesia care environments.
