Overview

- Prescribe medications and treatments in compliance with state regulations and evidence-based practices.
- Utilize advanced wound care techniques and products to manage complex cases effectively.
- Diagnose and treat various wound types, including diabetic, arterial, and pressure injuries.
- Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines and maintain high standards of patient safety and care quality.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation using electronic medical record systems.
- Educate patients and staff on wound care best practices and prevention strategies.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide comprehensive wound care and primary services for patients in long-term care facilities.
- Prescribe medications, including controlled substances, adhering to state laws and regulations.
- Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic tests to inform treatment plans.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
- Utilize advanced wound care products and devices, including wound vacs, effectively.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care strategies and ensure holistic treatment.
- Educate and mentor staff on wound care techniques and preventive measures.
- Support long-term care facilities in achieving quality improvement goals and enhanced CMS ratings.
Job Requirements
- Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) with an active Nurse Practitioner license in Ohio.
- Board certification and DEA licensure are preferred but not mandatory.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in adult, family, or geriatric specialties; 3 years preferred.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and treating various wound types and utilizing advanced wound care products.
- Comfortable working in long-term care settings and adept at using electronic medical records systems.
- Strong preference for candidates with wound care certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
