Job Description

Overview

  • Lead lease accounting and reporting processes under ASC 842, ensuring compliance and accuracy across financial operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review lease agreements and establish proper accounting setups.
  • Maintain and administer the lease accounting system, ensuring data integrity and system optimization.
  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and roll forwards related to leases.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert for operating and finance leases, providing guidance and support to the organization.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Identify and implement improvements to lease accounting processes, documentation, and internal controls.
  • Partner with external auditors to address lease-related inquiries and ensure compliance.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide actionable insights to management for strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee end-to-end lease accounting processes, including initial recognition, modifications, and terminations.
  • Calculate and manage right-of-use assets and lease liabilities with precision.
  • Ensure accurate classification and documentation of operating versus finance leases.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports and reconciliations related to lease accounting.
  • Collaborate with departments to review new lease agreements and assess accounting impacts.
  • Support audit processes by providing detailed lease-related documentation and insights.
  • Enhance lease accounting processes through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify trends and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Assist in other accounting duties as assigned to support organizational goals.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with 5 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in ASC 842 lease accounting standards and practices.
  • Experience with lease accounting systems, preferably LeaseQuery.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting and internal controls.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external auditors.
  • Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements.
