Job Description
Overview
- Lead the estimation process for diverse construction projects, ensuring precision and efficiency in cost assessments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive project strategies and accurate estimates.
- Analyze project scopes, specifications, and drawings to identify requirements and potential challenges.
- Prepare RFQ packages, evaluate vendor proposals, and recommend optimal selections.
- Develop risk allocation strategies and align estimates with operational objectives.
- Present detailed proposals to stakeholders, highlighting key assumptions and methodologies.
- Support project turnover processes by compiling and delivering comprehensive documentation.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors through effective communication and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Review bid packages and client deliverables to ensure completeness and quality.
- Issue RFIs to clarify scope gaps and obtain missing information.
- Prepare detailed estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontract costs.
- Evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations to recommend optimal selections.
- Collaborate with operations teams to align estimates with construction methods and plans.
- Conduct bid reviews, presenting performance indicators and historical comparisons.
- Prepare proposal schedules and required documentation for client submissions.
- Assist project managers with subcontract/vendor negotiations and change order estimates.
- Maintain expertise in subcontractor and vendor scope requirements and industry standards.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a relevant field is required.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction estimation; 13 years preferred.
- Proficiency in multi-discipline estimation and cost analysis for construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of RFQ preparation and vendor/subcontractor evaluation processes.
- Experience aligning operational strategies with risk allocation in estimates.
- Ability to prepare and present comprehensive proposals and bid documentation.
- Excellent communication skills for vendor relations and team collaboration.
- Familiarity with hybrid work arrangements and willingness to travel as required.
- Proficiency in scheduling tools like Primavera P6 and Excel is essential.
