Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and manage the wound care unit, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with healthcare standards.
  • Develop and implement performance improvement plans, fostering excellence in nursing practices and patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with leadership to plan and monitor budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Provide education and training to staff, promoting professional development and competency validation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining readiness for inspections and surveys.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices and nursing research to drive quality initiatives and enhance patient care.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, encouraging diversity and employee engagement.
  • Maintain clinical competence and provide direct patient care when necessary to support the team.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Plan, organize, and direct essential patient care functions for the wound care unit.
  • Develop and integrate performance improvement plans into unit practices for enhanced outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and healthcare standards.
  • Coordinate staff education and competency assessments, fostering professional growth.
  • Monitor and control budgets, ensuring sound fiscal management and resource allocation.
  • Participate in inspections and regulatory surveys, maintaining compliance and readiness.
  • Promote staff development through tailored education plans and career pathways.
  • Lead process improvements to enhance patient and physician satisfaction.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s degree in Nursing required.
  • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing (WOCN) certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of clinical RN experience in acute care settings.
  • Preferred 5 years of leadership experience in healthcare management.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare and regulatory standards, including JCAHO and state requirements.
  • Proficiency in evidence-based nursing practices and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills for effective team management.
