Job Description

Overview

  • Lead the development and execution of renewable energy projects, focusing on wind power initiatives and greenfield opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success, including engineering, finance, and legal departments.
  • Manage relationships with stakeholders, including community representatives and commercial partners, to foster support and agreements.
  • Oversee the permitting process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and resolving challenges effectively.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of company investment objectives in renewable energy.
  • Provide regular updates to management on project progress, budgets, and key action items.
  • Travel to project sites and meetings as necessary, with reimbursement for all related expenses.
  • Work in a hybrid environment, combining on-site presence and remote collaboration.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and implement project plans for renewable energy initiatives, ensuring timely and budget-conscious execution.
  • Negotiate and finalize development agreements with stakeholders and partners.
  • Coordinate permitting processes, addressing regulatory and community concerns proactively.
  • Build and maintain relationships with potential off-takers and community representatives.
  • Direct external consultants and internal teams to align project goals and deliverables.
  • Analyze financial models, including NPV and IRR, to assess project viability and profitability.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to senior management and stakeholders on project status.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards throughout project development.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a focus on wind power.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale utility or energy projects successfully.
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience with pro forma modeling and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel 30-50% of the time as required.
  • Knowledge of US power markets, ISOs, and state incentives for renewable energy development.
  • Self-motivated and capable of leading teams indirectly and coaching effectively.
