Job Description

Overview

  • Lead the Senior Behavioral Health Unit, ensuring exceptional patient care and operational excellence through strategic planning and leadership.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols to optimize department efficiency and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance service delivery and address patient care challenges effectively.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to staff, fostering professional growth and a positive work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and participate in accreditation processes to uphold industry excellence.
  • Monitor departmental expenditures and evaluate technologies to improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Set strategic direction, budget, and resource allocation in collaboration with hospital leadership.
  • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to organizational policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee patient assessments, care planning, and family adjustment processes within the Behavioral Health department.
  • Lead and evaluate nursing staff, ensuring high-quality care and adherence to clinical protocols.
  • Provide education, maintenance, and competence assessment for staff regarding clinical practices and patient care.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and provide feedback to staff for their professional development.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address interdepartmental issues impacting patient care and organizational goals.
  • Ensure availability and organization of supplies and equipment for efficient patient care delivery.
  • Actively participate in process improvements and implement strategies for operational enhancements.
  • Respond promptly to patient and family requests, ensuring satisfaction and quality service.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a related field, with leadership experience preferred.
  • State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Medical Social Worker (LMSW) required.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to manage departmental operations effectively.
  • Proficiency in healthcare software systems, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office platforms.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Ability to foster teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the department.
