Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance for real estate partnerships and entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage the preparation and review of partnership tax returns, including detailed analysis of Schedules K-1.
- Advise on tax-efficient structures for acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancings to optimize financial outcomes.
- Analyze the tax implications of property transactions and partnership allocations, providing actionable insights.
- Coordinate with external advisors and legal counsel to address complex tax matters effectively.
- Ensure compliance with affordable housing tax provisions and HUD programs, supporting community-focused initiatives.
- Implement and maintain robust tax policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure organizational compliance.
- Collaborate with finance and development teams to structure transactions strategically and optimize tax outcomes.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive tax experience, with a focus on real estate taxation.
- Extensive public accounting experience at a regional or national firm is highly desirable.
- Expert knowledge of partnership taxation and multi-tiered ownership structures is essential.
- Proficiency in tax research tools and advanced Excel skills for financial modeling.
- Experience with Low-Income Housing Tax Credit regulations is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to team-based problem-solving.
