Overview

  • Manage comprehensive tax compliance and planning for a diverse real estate portfolio, ensuring adherence to regulations and optimizing financial outcomes.
  • Provide expert guidance on partnership taxation and multi-tiered ownership structures, supporting strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative tax strategies tailored to real estate operations.
  • Oversee tax audits and effectively address inquiries from tax authorities, ensuring compliance and minimizing risks.
  • Implement advanced tax technology solutions to streamline workflows and enhance organizational efficiency.
  • Stay informed on evolving tax laws and assess their implications on real estate transactions and operations.
  • Support compliance with affordable housing tax credits and related regulations, contributing to community-focused initiatives.
  • Develop proactive strategies to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring full regulatory compliance and operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance for real estate partnerships and entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage the preparation and review of partnership tax returns, including detailed analysis of Schedules K-1.
  • Advise on tax-efficient structures for acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancings to optimize financial outcomes.
  • Analyze the tax implications of property transactions and partnership allocations, providing actionable insights.
  • Coordinate with external advisors and legal counsel to address complex tax matters effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with affordable housing tax provisions and HUD programs, supporting community-focused initiatives.
  • Implement and maintain robust tax policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure organizational compliance.
  • Collaborate with finance and development teams to structure transactions strategically and optimize tax outcomes.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive tax experience, with a focus on real estate taxation.
  • Extensive public accounting experience at a regional or national firm is highly desirable.
  • Expert knowledge of partnership taxation and multi-tiered ownership structures is essential.
  • Proficiency in tax research tools and advanced Excel skills for financial modeling.
  • Experience with Low-Income Housing Tax Credit regulations is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to team-based problem-solving.
