Overview

  • Lead payroll accounting operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations while maintaining organizational financial integrity.
  • Collaborate with HR and IT teams to optimize payroll systems and processes for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Supervise and mentor a skilled team, fostering professional growth and operational excellence.
  • Analyze payroll data to provide actionable insights and support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare for and support external audits, ensuring compliance and resolving discrepancies effectively.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance departmental efficiency and innovation.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and dynamic work environment with a focus on achieving organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee month-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and financial statement analysis for payroll accounting.
  • Develop and enforce policies for payroll system operations, ensuring compliance and proper approvals.
  • Manage bonus accruals, PTO adjustments, and balance sheet reconciliations across organizational divisions.
  • Lead a high-performing team, providing guidance, feedback, and training to ensure success.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, preparing required documentation and addressing inquiries.
  • Research and resolve payroll-related inquiries, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, driving impactful changes within the department.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of payroll accounting experience; 15 years preferred, with expertise in tax and benefit calculations.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems such as Oracle Fusion, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and Alteryx.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX regulations, ensuring compliance in all processes.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-production environment, managing priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Experience in public accounting is a plus, enhancing ability to manage complex payroll scenarios.
