Job Description

Overview

  • Lead cost accounting initiatives for a dynamic organization, ensuring financial accuracy and operational efficiency across diverse business channels.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize pricing strategies, inventory valuation, and margin analysis, driving organizational success.
  • Provide actionable insights to senior leadership, supporting strategic decision-making and operational improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and strengthen internal controls around cost accounting processes.
  • Utilize advanced ERP systems and Excel expertise to manage complex datasets and perform detailed financial analyses.
  • Contribute to month-end and year-end financial close processes, ensuring accurate reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Identify financial risks proactively and implement effective solutions to support organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Maintain and review standard costs for all SKUs, ensuring accuracy and timely updates within the ERP system.
  • Analyze purchase price variances, freight variances, and other cost deviations, addressing root causes effectively.
  • Monitor sales transactions to detect margin erosion and collaborate with teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and lead monthly reconciliations and cost-related journal entries.
  • Strengthen internal controls around costing, markdowns, and margin reporting, ensuring financial accuracy.
  • Develop and deliver actionable financial reports to senior leadership, aiding strategic planning.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy in inventory and financial areas.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with expertise in cost accounting principles.
  • Minimum of 5 years of cost accounting experience in consumer goods or related industries.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems; experience with BlueCherry is preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and handling large datasets.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP standards and inventory controls.
  • Highly analytical with proactive risk identification and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
