Overview

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform venipuncture and other specimen collection techniques with precision and professionalism.
  • Ensure accurate labeling, centrifuging, and storage of specimens per protocol requirements.
  • Maintain specimen integrity during packaging and transport processes.
  • Comply with safety regulations and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Update patient information and address inquiries with professionalism and clarity.
  • Follow physician orders and laboratory protocols meticulously for accurate testing.
  • Participate in department training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory cleanliness and operational efficiency.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required for this position.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in phlebotomy; 2 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in specimen collection and preparation techniques is essential.
  • Bilingual Spanish skills and pediatric experience are required.
  • Ability to float to multiple locations as needed is necessary.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and DEP regulations for laboratory safety is mandatory.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are crucial.
  • Effective communication skills for patient interaction are required.
  • Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced healthcare environment is essential.
