Design Manager

Overview

• Lead innovative design initiatives for energy-focused projects, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with industry standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to transform conceptual designs into actionable and sustainable solutions.
• Drive design-build integration, aligning designs with construction methodologies and project logistics for optimal execution.
• Act as the primary design authority during construction phases, ensuring adherence to approved designs and quality standards.
• Support preconstruction activities, including proposal development and conceptual design refinement to meet client objectives.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and regulations while advancing project goals and sustainability.
• Monitor design progress to meet budget and schedule constraints, proactively mitigating risks and ensuring project success.
• Maintain alignment between design intent, construction execution, and financial performance for optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Oversee the design process for projects from inception to completion, ensuring excellence and innovation.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver cohesive and integrated designs aligned with project goals.
• Facilitate design workshops and stakeholder meetings to refine and enhance project concepts.
• Monitor design progress, ensuring alignment with project budgets, schedules, and performance metrics.
• Conduct design reviews, constructability analyses, and interdisciplinary coordination to optimize outcomes.
• Support construction phase activities, resolving design-related issues and implementing necessary changes.
• Assist in commissioning, testing, and project closeout activities to ensure successful delivery.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations throughout all project phases.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or a related field is required.
• 7-10+ years of experience in design development and construction support within energy-focused projects.
• Proficiency in CAD/BIM platforms and familiarity with design standards and methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, systems, and construction methodologies is essential.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams in Design-Build environments is preferred.
• Preferred certifications include Licensed Architect (RA), Professional Engineer (PE), and DBIA certification.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills to manage complex projects effectively.
• Ability to influence decision-making across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders successfully.
