Job Description

Overview

  • Lead cost accounting functions to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency within a dynamic organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize pricing strategies and inventory valuation processes.
  • Provide actionable insights to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making and organizational growth.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and strengthen internal controls around cost accounting operations.
  • Utilize advanced ERP systems and Excel proficiency for detailed financial analyses and reporting.
  • Contribute to month-end and year-end financial close processes, ensuring accurate reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Identify financial risks and implement effective solutions to support organizational stability and growth.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Maintain and review standard costs for all SKUs, ensuring accuracy and timely updates within ERP systems.
  • Analyze purchase price variances, freight costs, and other deviations, addressing root causes effectively.
  • Monitor sales transactions to detect margin erosion and collaborate with teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and lead reconciliations and cost-related journal entries monthly.
  • Strengthen internal controls around costing, markdowns, and margin reporting for financial accuracy.
  • Develop and deliver actionable financial reports to senior leadership to aid strategic planning.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy in inventory and financial areas.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of cost accounting experience in consumer goods or related industries.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems; experience with BlueCherry is preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and handling large datasets.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP standards and inventory controls.
  • Highly analytical with proactive risk identification and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
