Overview

  • Provide professional phlebotomy services, ensuring accurate blood draws and specimen handling for diverse patient demographics.
  • Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles, prioritizing patient comfort and safety.
  • Communicate procedures effectively to patients, fostering understanding and compliance during specimen collection.
  • Travel across designated locations to deliver phlebotomy services as required.
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA and DEP regulations, maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
  • Prepare, package, and store specimens accurately to preserve integrity for transport and testing.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on protocols and enhance professional skills.
  • Support laboratory operations by addressing inquiries and assisting in result interpretation as needed.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform blood collection, labeling, centrifugation, and decontamination processes with precision.
  • Follow established protocols for specimen collection, storage, and temperature requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy by matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Package specimens securely for transport, maintaining sample integrity throughout.
  • Adhere to safety regulations, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Update patient information and laboratory records meticulously to ensure data accuracy.
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment and documenting maintenance activities.
  • Provide compassionate patient care and support during specimen collection processes.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required for eligibility.
  • Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience; 2 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in venipuncture techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and DEP regulations for laboratory safety and compliance.
  • Flexibility to float across multiple locations as required.
  • Strong organizational skills for specimen labeling, storage, and transport.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain procedures and address inquiries.
