Senior Cost Accountant Overview

  • The Senior Cost Accountant will play a vital role in driving financial efficiency and strategic decision-making through detailed cost analysis and reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial strategies with organizational goals and enhance operational performance.
  • Lead critical financial processes, including forecasting, budgeting, and month-end close activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory, and variances to provide actionable insights to leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to US GAAP, SOX, and internal controls while promoting continuous improvement in financial practices.
  • Support ERP and EPM system initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy and process automation.
  • Contribute to investment management processes, including project approval, capitalization, and ROI analysis.

Senior Cost Accountant Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare and analyze monthly forecasts, budgets, and cost updates in partnership with plant leadership.
  • Lead month-end closing activities, including inventory reconciliation, variance analysis, and production order settlement.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts related to inventory, GR/IR, and fixed assets.
  • Support calculations and reporting for warranty provisions, inventory reserves, and excess & obsolete inventory.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure accurate BOMs, routings, and cost center rates in SAP systems.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy, cycle counts, and scrap reporting to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate CAPEX requests and spending, ensuring alignment with corporate financial guidelines.
  • Participate in ERP and EPM system enhancements to improve reporting accuracy and process efficiency.

Senior Cost Accountant Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in cost accounting, with 6 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA and enterprise performance management systems.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, SOX compliance, and internal control requirements.
  • Experience in financial planning, variance analysis, and inventory management.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and drive process improvements.
  • Capability to manage CAPEX processes and validate ROI for completed projects.
