Vice President Fund Controller (Real Estate) Overview

  • Lead financial operations for real estate investment funds, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in reporting and investor relations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support acquisitions, dispositions, and financing arrangements effectively.
  • Supervise external auditors, tax preparers, and fund administrators to uphold regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Prepare and review detailed financial statements, management fees, and performance metrics for stakeholders.
  • Manage treasury operations, including liquidity management and transaction approvals.
  • Ensure adherence to loan facilities and oversee payment management processes efficiently.
  • Support valuation processes and review third-party valuation reports for accuracy and reliability.
  • Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies across finance functions to optimize performance.

Vice President Fund Controller (Real Estate) Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee daily accounting and financial responsibilities for investment vehicles within the fund portfolio.
  • Prepare and review transactional activity, including carried interest calculations and fund allocations.
  • Calculate and analyze IRRs, investment multiples, and time-weighted returns for performance evaluation.
  • Ensure compliance with fund structures and agreements, providing supplemental investor reports.
  • Collaborate with investment and valuation teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Manage cash liquidity and oversee vendor payment approvals to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Participate in firm-wide initiatives, sharing insights and expertise with finance teams.
  • Enhance operational processes and reporting systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Vice President Fund Controller (Real Estate) Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • 8-12 years of experience, ideally combining Big 4 Accounting and private sector exposure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced financial reporting tools.
  • Experience in real estate debt or general debt strategies is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure in a dynamic environment.
