Medical Assistant Overview

  • The Medical Assistant role offers a dynamic opportunity to provide direct patient care in a collaborative clinical environment.
  • Support physicians and advanced practice providers in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Perform clinical tasks including vital sign monitoring, phlebotomy, and specimen collection to aid diagnostic processes.
  • Administer medications and vaccines within certification allowances, ensuring patient safety and compliance.
  • Maintain and sterilize medical equipment and examination rooms to uphold hygiene standards.
  • Document patient interactions and medical data accurately into electronic medical records systems.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Participate in local travel as required, with mileage reimbursement provided.

Medical Assistant Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens to assist in diagnostic evaluations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care delivery.
  • Administer medications and vaccines in accordance with certification and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records systems.
  • Ensure cleanliness and functionality of medical equipment and examination rooms.

  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures while exercising independent judgment when needed.
  • Participate in training programs to stay updated on best practices and industry standards.
  • Support the organization’s Tuberculosis screening program as part of patient-facing responsibilities.

Medical Assistant Job Requirements

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program or certification as a Registered/Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Associate of Science degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current CPR certification and compliance with Tuberculosis screening requirements.
  • Experience in administering medications and vaccines is preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Value-Based Care, HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and patient experience metrics is preferred.
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional local travel.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in clinical settings.
