Assistant Controller Overview

• The Assistant Controller will oversee hedge fund accounting and administration processes, ensuring compliance and accuracy in financial reporting and operational tasks.
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and clients to manage accounting processes and drive operational efficiency.
• Review and provide feedback on fund documentation, ensuring alignment with financial and operational requirements.
• Lead the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP standards.
• Support new business initiatives and fund launches, ensuring smooth implementation and adherence to standards.
• Monitor compliance with partnership operating agreements and oversee periodic reporting requirements.
• Drive process automation and efficiency by collaborating with technology and product teams.
• Participate in management-level meetings to provide insights and strategic direction for fund operations.

Assistant Controller Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Manage a portfolio of private equity and hedge fund feeder funds, ensuring accurate accounting and reporting.
• Review and approve NAV calculations, capital account statements, and other financial outputs prepared by the team.
• Oversee capital call and distribution processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with agreements.
• Facilitate fund compliance with partnership operating agreements and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to financial and operational guidelines.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members, fostering professional growth and development.
• Engage with external stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and operational alignment.
• Drive innovation and efficiency by implementing technology solutions and process improvements.

Assistant Controller Job Requirements

• Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in hedge fund accounting or related financial roles.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience with financial statement preparation.
• Proven ability to manage complex financial operations and lead cross-functional teams.
• Experience with process automation and technology-driven efficiency improvements is preferred.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse stakeholders.
• Familiarity with private equity and hedge fund structures and operations is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to provide strategic insights and drive operational excellence.
