Primary Care Physician Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions, tailoring care to individual patient needs and preferences.
  • Lead and collaborate with care teams to deliver integrated healthcare services across various settings.
  • Engage with specialists and hospitalists to ensure seamless and comprehensive patient management.
  • Supervise and mentor Advanced Practice Practitioners (APPs) to enhance team capabilities and performance.

  • Support organizational growth through patient and provider recruitment and retention efforts.

Primary Care Physician Job Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree is required.
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Geriatrics is preferred.
  • Active state medical license or eligibility to obtain one upon employment is mandatory.
  • DEA certification for prescribing controlled substances is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant healthcare software applications is essential.
  • Willingness to travel locally and nationally for training and recruitment activities as needed.
