Controller Overview

• The Controller will lead financial operations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and strategic alignment with organizational goals.
• Oversee accounting practices, fiscal records, and financial planning to drive profitability and efficiency.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering professional growth and high performance standards.
• Develop and present financial analyses to support executive decision-making and strategic initiatives.
• Collaborate with external auditors and tax professionals to ensure regulatory compliance and accuracy.
• Enhance internal reporting systems, delivering actionable insights to stakeholders and management.
• Maintain robust financial controls, ensuring equitable workload distribution and operational integrity.
• Support human resources in payroll processing, benefit reviews, and recruitment for accounting roles.

Controller Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Analyze financial performance, budget adherence, and profitability, delivering comprehensive management reports.
• Supervise accounting staff, managing schedules, performance evaluations, and professional development.
• Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with standards and accuracy.
• Coordinate with auditors and tax professionals for planning and compliance activities.
• Oversee accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely collection and resolution of past-due accounts.
• Manage project billing, ensuring accuracy and addressing discrepancies promptly.
• Collaborate with operations teams on cost forecasting, project analysis, and budget management.
• Act as the primary contact for software support, resolving processing issues effectively.
• Participate in leadership meetings, providing updates on accounting concerns and initiatives.

Controller Job Requirements

• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting or financial management; 10 years preferred.
• Proven leadership experience at the director level, managing teams and driving results.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software, with experience in Sage preferred.
• Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating across departments.
• Experience in managing insurance claims and liaising with external providers.
• Ability to assist with HR functions, including payroll processing and benefits analysis.
