Overview

  • Lead accounting operations for a diverse property portfolio, ensuring compliance with financial standards and regulations.
  • Drive process improvements to optimize workflows and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate acquisitions and streamline accounting transitions.
  • Oversee monthly and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Develop standardized procedures for onboarding new properties and managing financial data transitions.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to accounting staff, fostering professional growth and team development.
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance during audits, acquisitions, and refinancing activities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external auditors and advisors for seamless audit and tax processes.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Analyze financial statements, accounts payable/receivable, and reconciliations for accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes across multiple entities and portfolios.
  • Prepare and review owner and investor reporting packages, ensuring precision and compliance.
  • Coordinate property onboarding processes, including vendor account transitions and financial data reconciliation.
  • Standardize reporting templates and improve timelines for monthly financial close procedures.
  • Act as a key user and administrator of property accounting systems and reporting tools.
  • Support integration of acquisitions into accounting systems, ensuring seamless transitions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure compliance and operational excellence.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
  • 5–12 years of accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate operations.
  • Proficiency in Yardi Voyager or similar property accounting systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting and property-level financial statements.
  • Experience with onboarding and transitioning properties is preferred.
  • CPA certification or progress towards CPA designation is advantageous.
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets are essential.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage priorities effectively.
