Registered Nurse Overview

• The Registered Nurse role involves providing comprehensive nursing care and performing routine medical procedures within the scope of nursing practice.
• Supervise LPNs, AMAP, and Direct Support Professionals in nursing tasks and activities, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Work effectively with diverse populations, adhering to NYS rules, regulations, and organizational policies.
• Coordinate acute and ongoing health services, ensuring timely communication of findings to clinical personnel.
• Provide health education to clients and their support systems, promoting preventive health measures.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans, updating them annually or as conditions change.
• Participate actively in the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and maintain accurate medical record documentation.
• Ensure staff training in medication administration, infection control, and other nursing functions.

Registered Nurse Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Perform nursing assessments through direct physical examinations and update care plans accordingly.
• Monitor health and behavioral status, labs, and prescribed treatments for efficacy.
• Provide initial and ongoing training to staff in nursing tasks and preventive health measures.
• Supervise and schedule LPN staff hours, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
• Maintain documentation of training curriculums, attendance, and post-training testing.
• Utilize electronic health record systems for care coordination and interface with external providers.
• Provide health education to clients and their support systems, enhancing understanding of health practices.
• Participate in candidate interviews for RN and LPN positions, assessing suitability.

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active, unrestricted New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse is required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is mandatory for this position.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in nursing, preferably with managerial experience.
• Proficiency in electronic health record management and care coordination systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to work effectively in a team environment.
• Knowledge of substance use disorder treatments and medications for addiction.
• Ability to supervise and train staff in nursing functions and preventive health measures.
• Sound independent judgment and decision-making skills are essential.
