Job Description

Director of Valuations

  • Provide oversight for valuation procedures relating to the firm’s daily/quarterly investment valuations and internal reporting.
  • Collaborate with asset class teams to develop consistent valuation processes and procedures as applicable across the asset classes.
  • Manage the annual audits of the investment valuations.
  • Oversee and/or review valuations prepared internally or by external service providers; prepare or work with appropriate asset class employees to prepare internal valuations as needed.
  • Manage external valuation services providers.
  • Ensure valuation policies and procedure are executed in accordance with internal control procedures in accordance with established SOC I and SOX controls.
  • Responsible for the firm’s valuation policy.
  • Lead and/or participate in valuation committee calls.
  • Leverage technology solutions to support and enhance the firm’s valuation function.
  • Responsible for keeping current on new rules and market trends
  • Manage, train and mentor junior team members.
  • Ability to cogently explain and discuss financial information/calculations to different audiences.
  • Participate in Operational Due Diligence meetings and existing or prospectives investor meetings
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, innovation, and excellence.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across the firm, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • MBA or CPA is preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CVA, ABV, ASA, or similar credentials are a plus.
  • 12+ years of experience in private assets valuations with several years in a management or leadership role.
  • Ideal candidates will have experience with SEC registered investment advisors.
  • Experience with valuation models, private equity, real estate, or debt structures.
  • Experience working in a fast paced and growing company with demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage priorities against key deadlines.
