Job Description

Position Summary:

The Insurance Defense Paralegal provides support to attorneys in all aspects of litigation, with a primary focus on insurance defense matters. This role involves document management, legal research, drafting, and assisting with trial preparation in cases involving personal injury, property damage, professional liability, and other insurance-related claims.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and draft legal documents, including pleadings, discovery requests/responses, subpoenas, and correspondence.
  • Organize and manage case files, including physical and electronic records.
  • Perform legal research and summarize findings for attorney review.
  • Assist attorneys in deposition, mediation, and trial preparation.
  • Review medical records, police reports, and insurance documents to identify relevant case details.
  • Maintain and monitor case calendars, court deadlines, and docket schedules.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, court personnel, and insurance adjusters under attorney supervision.
  • Summarize depositions, medical records, and discovery documents.
  • File legal documents with state and federal courts (e-filing).

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree, Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of paralegal experience, preferably in insurance defense litigation.
  • Strong understanding of civil litigation process and insurance law terminology.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw) and case management software.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with court filing procedures in relevant jurisdictions.
